News of the Week

I’m excited to announce that I’ve opened another art gallery on Temprus.  In addition to Art in the Park, which features a variety of very talented artists each month, I have opened a gallery to showcase some of my digital art.

A year ago, on June 13, 2014, I joined Facebook and found myself amidst a large number of digital artists.   I marveled at the beauty and skill of the digital artwork that I was seeing and decided that I wanted to try my hand at it.

I took a number of selfies in world and then picked a couple that I liked the best.  I had a vague idea in my mind of what I wanted to accomplish and turned to my husband, a real life artist for advice. [He had been telling me for years that I was an artist.  Even though I have made numerous decorative items in real life, the term artist didn’t sit well with me.  In my mind, I was decorating or designing.]  With his help and with a lot more instruction on Paintshop Pro (which I had only used before for product pics and ads) I completed Midsummer Night.  I added Adobe Photoshop soon after and began to experiment with Digital Art, joining Deviant Art at the end of July 2014.

I was fortunate to be surrounded by a number of very talented people.  Adrian Harbinger, my business partner and owner of Temprus, is a real life artist.  He continues to be very supportive.  In October 2014, we opened Temprus and had our first Art in the Park contest.

I named Adrian as a judge and included other people in the art community such as: Slatan Dryke, Toysoldier Thor, JM Balogh and Argus Collingwood.  I did not include myself in the list of judges as I hadn’t felt qualified.  It was Toy who had recommended JM, and JM in turn recommended Slatan.

Toysoldier, who had helped me when I first joined Deviant Art, helped to promote Art in the Park.  But the moment that still remains with me was when Toy had said that The Backwoods (a piece that I had displayed in Art in the Park as filler only) was a quality piece.  It was one thing for my husband or long-time friends Argus and Adrian to say that they liked my work, but to have another artist that I met only a few months prior say that my work was good meant a lot to me.

On May 3, 2015, I exhibited ten pieces of art at the Raglan Shire Art Walk.  This was the first time that I had shown any of my work outside of Temprus and also the first time that I had put any of my art up for sale.  And people bought my art!  People that I didn’t know at all!  I cannot find the words to express how much that really meant to me.

I began to think that it might be fun to have a gallery.  I built the structure myself and then transformed a portion of Temprus to accommodate the building.  So far, I have set out art pictures and a few original art embedded objects.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you all so much for your continued support.
